This is a masonry main dam, that includes a central spillway and RCC Bridge. The maximum create gross storage capacity of the dam is 199.00 MCM. It is a major project which has an irrigation potential of appox 37000 hectares. This dam has 8 hydraulically operated radial gates for flood discharge and has a river sluice barrel. It has two galleries in the spillway portion, one foundation gallery and one inspection gallery.
This dam has a 45 m high spillway. The total volume of masonry and concrete executed in this dam is more than 3,50,000 cum. The work in the higher elevation was executed with help of cranes and lifts.
